Hey Creator,

Every big AI assistant is racing to do more than talk, to actually finish the thing you started describing. Some have gone after code, some after research.

Gemini's latest attempt is aimed at something closer to home for you: the design and video tools you already open every day.

Let’s dive in!

You know the loop: brainstorm in Gemini, generate a rough image or draft, then leave to actually build it in Canva, Photoshop, or CapCut. Every switch means re-explaining context, re-uploading files, losing momentum.

Google is trying to close that loop by bringing Canva, Adobe, and CapCut directly into Gemini. It's also catching up: Canva and Adobe already have similar connectors live inside Claude, and Gemini is the last major AI assistant to get them.

With Gemini reportedly used by over 900 million people a month, that's a lot of workflows Google wants to keep inside its own app instead of losing to a competitor.

Here's what each integration actually does, and where things stand right now.

Canva: live and ready to use

Type @Canva in a Gemini chat and you can:

  • Generate a design on the spot

  • Pull up your existing Canva content without opening the app

  • Turn a Gemini-generated image into a proper layered Canva file (called Magic Layers), so text and elements become separately editable instead of stuck flat

  • Keep fonts and colors consistent automatically, since it pulls from your Brand Kit

Say you're mocking up a poster. You describe it in Gemini, get an AI-generated image back, and instead of that being the final flat file, Magic Layers breaks it into pieces you can actually move around, swap the headline text, resize the product shot, adjust the color, all inside Canva without starting over.

Availability depends a bit on your region right now, since Canva rolled this out gradually starting in English-language markets.

The bigger promise: Adobe, still in progress

The idea: describe what you want, and Adobe's connector figures out which tool needs to run, whether that's Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, or Adobe Express, and in what order.

Adobe's own example: a shop owner sketches a campaign idea in Gemini, then the connector turns it into polished product mockups, resized social assets, and video variations, all without the owner touching Photoshop or Premiere directly.

That's the pitch, more than 50 professional tools triggered by a plain-language request instead of you opening each app separately.

It's a real shift in how the work would get done, if it holds up. Adobe has only said it's coming, with no date attached, and no word yet on whether it'll need a separate Creative Cloud subscription to use.

CapCut promises video editing without leaving Gemini

For short-form creators, this is the one to watch. Once live, it should let you generate a video idea in Gemini, then trim clips, adjust effects, and refine the footage right there, instead of exporting to the CapCut app to finish it.

Also not live yet, and CapCut hasn't said whether it'll need an active CapCut Pro subscription on top of your Gemini plan.

Worth knowing before you build around any of this

Google recently switched Gemini to compute-based usage limits, meaning heavier tasks eat into your limit faster than a simple text prompt does.

Generating a video or a multi-layer design through these integrations counts as exactly that kind of heavier task, so don't assume unlimited use once these are live.

What actually changes for you today

  • Canva-in-Gemini is worth building into your process now, especially if you're already generating images there

  • Want Adobe's connector before it reaches Gemini? It's already live inside Claude

  • No workaround yet for CapCut, so your current video editing process stays the same for now

Worth checking back on this one in a few weeks, since Canva went from announcement to live product in days. Adobe and CapCut could move just as fast once they're ready.
